Jersey Girls, The Fierce and the Fabulous

My sister Marni bought her first house in New Jersey.  She planted her first garden and watched the seeds of her new life grow in Jersey. Although she never had big hair (even in the 80’s) she did adapt the word pok-a-book into her vocabulary.

So when I was invited to the book signing and launch of Barri Leiner Grant and Marie Moss’ new book, Jersey Girls, The Fierce and the Fabulous, I couldn’t wait to make my sister jealous.

The Party: The event was hosted at the W on Lakeshore Drive where I enjoyed panoramic views of Lake Michigan, rocked out to the sultry sounds of Bon Jovi and sipped wine. Tables were scattered with salt-water taffy and guests wore their best New Jersey outfits.  Passed hors· d’oeuvres were plentiful with grilled cheese, sliders, french fries, caramel corn and cupcakes.

The Book:  Celebrating everything that Snookie and the Situation are not, the new release includes a mix of vintage and modern photographs, a glossary of Jersey girl pronunciations with kitschy definitions along with exclusive interviews with famous Jersey residents.  We loved this great interview from New Jersey Monthly where the authors dished on their favorite Jersey Girls inspired food and accessories.

We wish Barri and Marie the best of luck and don’t forget to pick up a copy for your cawfee table.  -Jill

While not a Jersey Girl by birth, I had the honor of being one for 5 years. I carried my “pocketbook” proudly, and ordered my “cawfee” loudly!
